Curriculum Development & Facilitation

Over the past five years, I've been on a remarkable journey as a volunteer facilitator, primarily in men's peer support. My experience has expanded to include workshops on topics like body image and mental health, as well as research projects.

In 2021, my accumulated expertise led to a significant opportunity: developing a comprehensive 10-session curriculum for Taraki on becoming a peer support facilitator. This project became a source of deep personal pride. The curriculum has since been implemented in various settings, including private spaces like EY.

Looking back, I'm amazed at my growth. In just five years, I've transitioned from a participant in peer support to a leader who's scaling a peer support model at Taraki through my own curriculum. This journey has been truly transformative, and I consider it the greatest honor of my life.

Taraki: Men’s Peer Support Curriculum

As the Project Lead at Taraki, I have been spearheading the men's peer support educational program since 2021, funded by Movember. A key component of my role has been developing a comprehensive 10-session curriculum on becoming a peer support facilitator. This curriculum covers essential modules including:

  • Active and empathetic listening

  • Safeguarding and boundaries

  • Cultural competency

  • Understanding personal motivation

Earnest Young: Climate Change Peer Support Curriculum Delivery

In 2022, Ernst & Young (EY) and their Eco-Innovators Network invited me to address the mental impact of the climate crisis. After successfully facilitating eight sessions for EY employees worldwide, I was tasked with developing a curriculum to train members of their Eco-Innovators Network. The goal was to enable them to facilitate sessions across different continents with a more localized approach.

Embracing this opportunity, I created and delivered a specialized curriculum on facilitating spaces specifically for climate crisis discussions. The program included key sessions on:

  • Active and empathetic listening

  • Safeguarding and boundaries

  • Personal motivation

  • Navigating change beyond our control

This experience with EY was thoroughly rewarding and allowed me to contribute meaningfully to addressing the psychological aspects of climate change within a corporate environment.

Nova University, Masculinity & Mental Health Workshop

In October 2022, I was invited to facilitate a space on ‘Masculinity & Mental Health’ at Nova University in Lisbon, Portugal by Nova Mindspace, which is a student club for health and wellbeing. In this workshop, I explored prompts such as:

  • how does mental health impact men?

  • what are some challenges men face when experiencing mental health challenges?

  • how does stigma affect men seeking support?

  • what role does masculinity play in how men experience mental health?

Ada Lovelace Institute: Exploring Self-Identity & Anti-Oppression

In October 2022 I delivered a workshop for Ada Lovelace Institute for their team weekend exploring self-identity from an anti-oppressive lens. Having engaged the organisations and key members of its Anti-Oppression team for 6 months prior, I created a bespoke peer support session for the organisation to explore key themes such as :

  • how do we define our identities?

  • how does our identity define our work?

  • what is anti-oppression?

  • how does our identity define our journey in anti-oppression?
