Project Management

My journey into project management started around 10 years ago when I started working in marketing. Throughout my marketing career, I have worked in small businesses and marketing agencies. As such, project management was a daily function in my various roles.

In 2021, I was asked by Taraki to lead the scaling of their peer support model. It is in this role that I have grown into a versatile project manager who can manage multiple workstreams on an international scale. Being recognised for my skills as a project manager, I have also led projects beyond Taraki, such as working with Spark & Co and project managing programs for clients such as Mind, Mcmillan and Locality.

My experience as a project manager can be seen on my CV here, however, provided below is a case study of how I currently project manage the scaling of Taraki’s peer support model.

Partnership Recruitment

At Taraki we believe in empowering every day people to enact positive change in their own communities because they know their communities best. As such, the first step in scaling our peer support model is the generation of partner organisations who are willing and able to test our peer support model on a localised level. From a project management perspective, this means I am responsible for the following worksteams:

  • Communicating with potential partners.

  • Progressing interested partners through our partnership funnel.

  • Managing participant recruitment in collaboration with partner organisation.

Examples of our existing partner organisations who we have worked with include Sikh Mental Health & Wellbeing, Heera Foundation & Prem based in Canada.

Set up & Support

Having delivered our peer support facilitation curriculum to the students, we move towards setting up and supporting our partner organisation so that they are able to host peer support spaces for men in their local communities. The spaces our partner organisations hold can vary depending on the needs of the men in their local communities. Examples of spaces currently being delivered include 5 aside football + chat to more generalised sit-down and chat spaces. My particular responsibilities in this work stream includes:

  • Working with our co-ordination lead to find venues + times for the delivery of spaces.

  • Hosting check-ins on Whatsapp + Zoom for any problem solving + questions confronted.

  • Working with external partner networks to generate awareness for the creation of peer support spaces on a localised and city level.

  • Managing key stakeholders such as our co-ordination lead to ensure that they feel supported in as many ways possible.

Participant Recruitment

Having confirmed a partner organisation/s based on the cycle of our project plan, the next stage of our process includes a participant recruitment drive. In other words the students will be attending our 10 session program peer support facilitation program. This is process which I directly manage and it includes the following tasks:

  • Organising recruitment drive for students through paid social media ads + organic social assets. Along with working external partners to generate awareness.

  • Managing communicating with interested participants via email through email communication flows.

  • Holding webinars for interested participants.

  • Creating direct means of communication for final set of students ahead of delivery.

  • Managing feedback and evaluation mechanisms with our third party vendor at Movember to ensure maximum participation.
